Shanita Smrity (MS, Pharmaceutical Sciences, B. Pharm-Honor’s, Jahangirnagar University) is from Dhaka, Bangladesh. In her master’s research, she focused on pure compound isolation from endophytic fungi having antimicrobial activity. During her master’s thesis, she was awarded with prestigious research fellowship from the reputed research organization namely Bangladesh Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (BCSIR). After graduation, she joined academia as a teaching faculty in the Department of Pharmacy at Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Science and Technology University, Gopalganj, Bangladesh. Shanita is interested to learn the bioinformatics approaches to get in-depth understanding of molecular mechanisms of antimicrobial resistance. Currently she is pursuing her second master’s in Bioinformatics under Dr. Tatum Mortimer’s supervision at the University of Georgia. In her free time, Shanita enjoys reading, writing, cooking and painting!
